For many years, the ever popular Ellsworth Jigs were supplied with a flat head thumbscrew, as pictured below at right. In about 2004 I discovered and started supplying an Improved Screw. The Improved Screw has a much more comfortable and effective plastic knob and has a metal tip that swivels. The swiveling tip serves two purposes: It improves the tightening of the gouge in the jig and when tightening, the gouge does not move which improves the precision when re-sharpening a gouge.
I sent one to Ellsworth for evaluation and since then, he has since started supplying the version, pictured below at left, with all his jigs.
