Liberty Lathe
Liberty Lathe
Notice how closely the 16" Liberty lathe resembles the 25" American Beauty. Each share the broad stance of the adjustable legs, sliding headstock, stainless steel ways, etc. Although it has a smaller capacity there are no sacrifices in the quality or performance in this fine machine.
Remote Control
An industrial quality tethered pendant style remote control is standard and provides FULL CONTROL of the motor- not just On and Off. The remote includes controls for: On/Off Reverse/Forward Variable Speed The remote is magnetically backed, has a long cord and can be attached anywhere on the lathe, except on the stainless steel ways, making it easily accessible regardless of where the turner is working.

Headstock
Headstock
A lever is provided to release the headstock so it can be repositioned anywhere along the bed. Having the ability to stand at the end of the lathe to hollow open bowls and vases is a significant ergonomic and tool control advantage. The headstock can also be positioned at the end of the bed for outboard turning.
Headstock
The headstock has a cut away design that provides room for the woodturner to work on the back side of a mounted piece of wood. Whether sanding or cutting wood, the additional access provided by this feature is very helpful. Opening the access plate (shown open in the photo) reveals the 48-position indexer, the upper drive pulley and belt.

Tailstock Tilt Away
Tailstock Tilt Away
For convenience and safety, an optional tail stock Tilt Away is available. The Tilt Away really gets the tail stock out of the way. It takes just seconds to operate.
Spindle Lock
A spindle lock, that is independent of the indexing system, is provided to lock the spindle in any of four positions. The lock stays engaged without having to be held. While in the locked position, the motor is electronically disabled thus preventing the accidental burning of the drive belt- a common occurrance on most lathes.

The Liberty lathe can be bench mounted or the optional leg set can be added.

"I have turned on the Liberty and it is a pleasure to operate and is very smooth and stable. I encourage anyone that is looking for a lathe in this size range to seriously consider it."
